DEF CON has been one of the world’s leading cybersecurity communities for more than three decades, known for convening industry, government, and independent experts to exchange advanced knowledge and practical skills. Building on this tradition, DEF CON Training delivers intensive courses taught by recognized global instructors. DEF CON Training courses offer hands-on instruction in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
Course Guidelines
Courses should be one, two, or three days long, providing about 8 hours of content per day. This timing should include any exams or capstone activities. Strong applications will include all information requested in the application and will include novel approaches or unique topics.
All courses for DEF CON Training Singapore must offer a proficiency evaluation for students, which will be included in the course price for all registrants. The structure of the proficiency evaluation is flexible, but it should include a clearly-defined assessment of the student’s knowledge of the course material.
If you plan to submit multiple courses, please submit a separate application for each. No more than three (3) applications are allowed per entity (individual, training team, or organization).
DEF CON Training Policies
All submissions, including those from returning trainers, will be evaluated by the training review board through a competitive process. Accepted courses will be posted on the DEF CON Training website. DEF CON Training will provide promotion and administrative support. Gross revenue for each course will be split evenly (50% to each party) between DEF CON Training and the trainer(s), based on the price set together. Singapore requires DEF CON to withhold taxes from trainer payments (15% for individuals, 17% for companies). Trainers may be able to claim relief through a double taxation agreement between Singapore and their country of residence.
Trainers are responsible for their own travel to and from the Training venue and for their accommodation during Training days.
Please reach out to training@defcon.org with any questions.
Consideration for Other 2027 DEF CON Training Events
To reduce application burden on trainers, we are providing the opportunity for your response to this Call for Trainers to be kept on file for consideration for additional training sessions in 2027. These events and dates are still being finalized, and we will reach out to confirm your availability when locations and dates are confirmed. You will have the opportunity to select training opportunities of interest at the end of the application form. Other training sessions currently under consideration include standalone trainings in the US and Singapore, Las Vegas training at DEF CON 35, training at DEF CON Middle East, and a pilot for virtual training. We're also providing the opportunity to opt-in to a catalog of courses available when we receive inquiries about private training offerings.
