Thank you for joining us for DEF CON Training Singapore this October!
Training Welcome and FAQ
Welcome to DEF CON Training! We’re excited to have you for our first standalone training in Singapore on October 1-2.
Here are a few important updates and reminders as we get closer to kickoff:
1. Important Check In Information
Starting the week of September 21, all students should receive an email through Humanitix with your check-in pass. You will need to have the QR code in this message to check in.
If you register after September 21, don't worry! We will send out QR codes about twice a week to new registrants.
If you do not receive this email, please check your spam or junk folder. If you still do not find it, please email training@defcon.org. If you purchased a course on behalf of a different student, only the student should have received this email.
2. Training Check-In
Check in will be at the Rendezvous Hotel Singapore, outside the training rooms. Rooms assignments will be announced about one week before training. We’ll provide more detailed arrival instructions and maps prior to the first day of training.
Check in will be available starting one hour before the start of training, beginning at 7:30 am on Thursday, October 1.
3. Training Schedule
Training will be from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, with a lunch break in the middle of the day.
Lunch and coffee will be provided on-site as part of your course registration fee.
4. Room Assignment: Trainings will be at the Rendezvous Hotel Singapore. Room assignments will be shared during the week before training.
5. Frequently Asked Questions
What do I need to bring to check in?
Bring your QR code (sent via Humanitix) to check in - that’s it! Both printed or electronic versions will be accepted.
I purchased this training for someone else. Why am I receiving this email?
If you purchased a course on behalf of someone else and received this message, please email training@defcon.org with your order number and the correct student name and email so they can be issued a check in ticket.
6. Tips & Tricks for Smooth Training Experience
- Bring the right equipment: Remember to check the “What Students Should Bring” section of your course page on training.defcon.org to make sure you bring the right materials.
- Complete system set up & pre-work: When you hear from your course instructor, be sure to read their message carefully and complete all steps for a smooth experience on the first day of your course.
- Come prepared for the weather: Even when it is hot outside, it’s often cold in the conference center rooms. That means you have to be prepared for everything! We recommend you dress in layers or bring a light sweater in case your classroom is cold. You may also want to bring a reusable water bottle.
- Be ready to charge up: Many courses rely on access to laptops for course activities throughout the day. There will be power outlets available in all classrooms. Be sure to bring your charging cable, and if you are traveling internationally remember to pack an appropriate adapter.
- Remember to sign in: You will be asked to sign in each day in the morning and again after lunch, either through an electronic form, paper attendance sheet, or via instructor roll call. Be sure your presence is recorded at each session to prevent any issues with your course certificate. Students who miss more than 25% of a course will not be eligible to receive their certificate.
